Georgia’s tax sale system is classified as a tax deed state. Property owners are given the right to one year redemption with having to pay 20% interest on top of debt owed. If the debt is not repaid in the redemption period, the investor has the right to foreclose on the owner.

Georgia tax deed sales are held on the first Tuesday of each month by the county sheriff or constable. Investors have the right to bid on the property, agreeing to pay the outstanding debt as well as any amount it took to win the bid.
