Thanks for your feedback on our tax lien discussion board.
That is a good question. Some people are only aware of tax lien investing when there are multiple tax sale options available such as tax lien investing and tax deed investing.
There are actually plenty of tax lien properties in Minnesota; the county just does not offer these liens for auction. Instead, the liens that remain unpaid after a certain amount of time go to a tax deed auction where investors are available to acquire and actually own the property.
So to answer your question, yes there are tax liens in Minnesota. And you are correct, you can not invest in a Minnesota tax certificates; however you can still view tax liens that will ultimately be offered as tax deeds.
Unfortunately tax lien and deed investing can get quite confusing.
