That is a good thing about tax lien investing. When you purchase a tax lien, the owner must pay back the original investment PLUS interest.

Let's say the owner doesn't pay? Then the home goes to a tax deed auction where the money will be raised to recoup your initial investment- still- PLUS interest.

So, no, it is rare that you lose your principal investment.
