I am new to it, but trying to find out as much as I can. What happens when the mortgage company reposseses the property within the redemtion period? Will the tax lien certificate be satisfied?

Yes, the mortgage company will satisfy the lien. Anybody with an interest in the property, or a bidder at auction will satisfy the lien.
